Tea Crafting in the Moonlight

I am told that tonight’s full moon in Taurus highlights our need for security and home comforts. Today is therefore a time for stillness, pampering and according to mysticmamma.com – “a time to connect with the nurturing and supportive energy of Mother Earth and remember the peace that comes when we simply take a moment to breathe deeply and enter the stillness.”

I am certainly feeling the need for some quietude, rest and perhaps a walk in nature to relax my soul before tonight’s full moon ceremony.

Last full moon, I sat in the garden under the glow of Grandmother Moon. A candle flickered beside me while I tied together five sticks to craft a pentagram. I imagined streams of moon beams and Goddess love being woven into this little creation as I put it together. The inspiration to make one came about because several months before I had a dream about walking in a forest collecting sticks and fallen twigs to make a pentagram with. So when my husband and I escaped to a wood cabin on the edge of a forest in July, I collected fallen sticks from the forest floor when we went for daily walks. I’d been holding on to them for a while, waiting for the right moment to make it. That moment seemed to arrive last month as the Blood moon rose against the night sky.

It felt good and somehow familiar, as though a piece of my timeless soul was reconnecting with a forgotten place or time. As a result, I’ve decided to find ways to include similar creative activities that allow me to waeve threads of wildness, sacredness and my intuitive feminine essence into my full moon ceremony.

So tonight, in addition to releasing blocks and examining my ideas of what security, feeling safe and being supported means to me, I’ll be tea crafting, making new batches moon energy infused soul soothing blends, mixing together black tea leaves and dried herbs from the garden. Taking inspiration from Lindsay Luna of Danmala Tea, also I’ll be making to make a tea mandala in addition to my usual tea meditation ritual. I loved what she shared in her Tea Mandala ebook and am looking forward to trying my hand at crafting my own. The tea enthusiast in me feels fed when exploring daily tea rituals and meditations in new ways.

How are you observing the full moon?

Wishing you love, light and mystery with whatever you do.

What is Your Medicine?

The rain is falling gently as I write and the distant rumble of thunder sounds in the background. How these healing waters soothe me! They are like soft Goddess kisses falling from the grey sky, sent to fill my heart with joy. For the last few of days I’ve surrendered to my spirit’s urge to walk out into the garden in the midst of the late spring showers, wet grass beneath my feet. Just to feel the cool drops fall on me. Being washed with the cleansing tears of the Earth is such a sacred way to honour the light of a new day.

This morning, I set my meditation cushion out on the stoep (porch/veranda) to watch the rain. I spent a few moments mindfully drinking buchu tea and reading from Mary Oliver’s House of Light. Then I drew an oracle card and found myself dissolving into the peaceful essence of mystery as I called out to the Goddess, meditating on what guidance she had to offer. I drew the Medicine Woman card and when I listened intently for the wild whispers that came, a question surfaced – What is your medicine?

In my stillness, a soft inner voice responded – The wild Earth is my medicine. The healing rain. The quiet trees. Steamy cups of warm tea. The smell of cinnamon, jasmine blossoms and the subtle scent of chamomile is medicine. The sound of the ocean. The gift of words – written and read. Heart soothing poetry. The love of the Divine is my medicine. And allowing my fragile feminine soul to space to exist, breathe, create and take in the beauty of the world.

These are the things that nourish my soul, the medicine that brings flow, peace and freedom to my inner landscapes. These are the gifts that I heal myself with. What I’ve also noticed is that some of these are also the things that I inevitably integrate into the medicine that my inner Medicine Woman offers as services to the world for the healing of others.

What is your medicine?

Discovering what your medicine is valuable because it nourishes your wild essence. It is the balm that pieces the fragmented pieces of your soul back to wholeness. And what I keep learning over and over again is that what heals and nourishes you brings you closer to your authentic path. It informs your life purpose. And what heals you also becomes soul medicine that you share with others to help them nourish themselves.

As the Wheel Turns

Monday blessings dear souls!

The wheel of life is turning and I’m feeling beautifully attuned to the flow of it all.

Finding the balance and peace of my centre isn’t always easy. I tend to frequently fall into pits of stuck-ness, getting caught up in cycles of negative thought patterns that I spend a lot time digging out of, trying to find my way back to the light and to my grounded self. But lately, things are moving with a new kind of ease for which my heart is so grateful.

I am feeling the presence of Spirit, of Goddess more strongly and I am finding it less of a struggle to stay connected to sacredness. Lessons of surrender and letting go of the struggle come hard, but right now I’m really witnessing the magic that happens when you give up the battle and just allow.

Simplicity and sacredness are at the forefront of my mind. Each day when I ask myself what I want to feel or invite into my life, these two words come to me immediately. So I’ve been receptive to the kindness of October that has brought me many moments laced with both of these precious gifts. A thread of stillness has woven its way into my days forcing me to be still, to rest, to breathe and to simply gather my energy for the things to come.

This ease of flow is not without touches of busy-ness. In between the pauses, I am knee deep in studies – Tarot Journey with Marissa Moondaughter, completing my Herbalism studies and I’ve just began The Captivate Program with Angela Raspass – all gifts that are enriching my mind and soul right now for I love the feeling of learning and seeing my inner world expanding.

Nonetheless, I just feel the need to be present with the magical essence that is growing within and flowing all around me to honour it and to express my gratitude for all that I have been blessed with. I know that soon there will be a quickening of energy that will whisk my back into action and backing into the busyness of doing. For now I just am happy to be moving at the pace at which the wheel of life is turning.

What space do you find yourself in right now as the wheel of life turns?
