Floating Freely: Meditating on the Spirit of Water

Don’t you love those moments that remind you that Spirit is everywhere?

Yesterday, when my husband and I spent the afternoon swimming to cool off from the summer heat, I ended up doing a meditation.

I lay floating on my back in the water. Looking up at the sky, the clouds drifted slowly. My thoughts drifted with them, evaporating, until eventually my mind was empty. Attuning to the movement of the water around me and the clouds overhead felt so liberating. Allowing my body to glide freely, I listened to the sounds of the water, its music resonating gently in my submerged ears. There were moments when it was as if the sky and the water became one, and I was moving leisurely in a spacious fluffy void.

The soothing feminine energies of water bodies are therapeutic. They feel familiar, safe and natural somehow. Perhaps it is linked to our subconscious memories of the womb or perhaps it is something to do with a cosmic consciousness traced far back to our origins in the ocean of creation at the beginning of time. Perhaps it is simply the mermaid soul in me.

Whatever it is, it makes me strongly aware of the responsive energy embodied within this aqueous medium.

“I believe that water is a living consciousness that has been with us since the beginning of time. It flows through us connecting us to it and each other.” ~ Louise Tarrier

It flows, cleanses, soothes, shifts, heals and teaches. It holds memory of both the present and ancient long forgotten times.

It captures the essence of the ebb and flow of our own energy, moods and emotions.

It is alive with Spirit, with consciousness and the Goddess.

So by floating and allowing myself to be, I was mindful of Spirit around me in the water. I was mindful of that fact that Spirit is everywhere, without and within. And Spirit felt like fluid, free, light, graceful and unrestrained.

What reminds you that Spirit exists in and around all things? How do you find ways to feel connected to all that is?

Releasing 2013 and Making Room for New Miracles in 2014

Have you been finding ways to release the past year?

The Waning Moon has set the perfect ambiance to release 2013. Its energy brings not only the opportunity to release, but also to pause and reflect before a new cycle begins to flow again. The days after Christmas and between New Year have been quiet, peaceful and pensive ones.  It is also a good time for smudge out any stagnant energy.

What do you want to manifest in the year to come?

2014 is bound to get off to an incredible start. The New Moon falls on the 1st of January. Since the New Moon energy is all about focusing intentions and planting new seeds for all the beautiful things that you want to manifest in your life, this is nothing less than perfect timing.

I have such a good feeling about the year to come. In 2013, us Earth Angels, Lightworkers and Starseeds have gone through so many energy shifts. We have broken through barriers and dropped into our shadows. We have been tested in so many ways, forced to draw on our inner resources and discovered just how strong we actually are by overcoming the challenges we faced. There may have been intense moments that left some of us discombobulated. But that aside, we’ve also experienced profound spiritual epiphanies, downloads and saw miracles take place in our lives.

As always, there are yet more changes and shifts to come. Something tells me that there are also even bigger blessings and miraculous experiences in the works too.

I am looking forward to it. But that will happen when the time arrives. For now, the present moment is just as juicy. Soaking in to what Marissa of Moondaughter calls the ‘ebb energy’ of the waning moon, I am content, feeling grounded, connected to the calming energy of the Great Mother and enjoying having a rest before things pick up again.

Surrender

Great Mother Nature is a Master at the art of surrender.

She knows when to let go, when to give in and when to trust and flow with the will of Spirit. She never holds on to what is no longer necessary. Always accepting that what she no longer needs will be of service to another in some significant way.

And so, through this surrender, the raindrops that fall from a dark cloud quench the dry earth, the feather that falls from a bird’s wing becomes a sign from heaven to the woman whose feet it lands at and the leaves that fall to the ground become food and raw materials for the compost making earthworms.

Today, I take this lesson into my awareness.

I surrender to each moment.

Releasing what has been before. Yesterday is no more. Past mistakes have been spiritually composted into today’s lessons.

I surrender to what is.

As I do, the struggle to shape and control the form of my reality shifts. I sense myself breaking free. As I surrender, my Spirit swirls in its dance partner – the Universe. Grace and peace of mind enter. I am reminded that with surrender comes the delicious taste of freedom.
