She is passionate about nature writing and specialized in creating soulful fertility, mindfulness and self-care resources that support women on their fertility journey. She has authored several fertility-focused books, including ‘Fertility Calm for the Two Week Wait ’, the ‘Fertility Calm Creative Journal’ and ‘Mending Softly – Finding Hope and Healing After Ectopic Pregnancy Loss’. Her book, Mending Softly, won ‘Best Fertility Book’ in the European Fertility Society’s 2021 Fertility Care Awards. 3 Reasons why I love this time of the year….

My husband and I shared a special moment…

Last Friday, when a peacock showed up on our outing to an aquarium park and left a beautiful feather for us. Peacocks are a symbol of love and marriage in some cultures. We had peacock theme for our wedding invitation and I had peacock feathers in my bouquet. It was special because we were celebrating our 5^th wedding anniversary. We were reminded of how blessed we are to share the love that we do and that Divine Spirit and the angels are always helping on our journey. I love that the festive season kicks off on the 20^th December each year when my husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary. It sets a beautiful tone for the rest of the season.

I enjoyed celebrating the cycles of Great Mother Nature….

With the solstices on the 21^st December. Be it the winter solstice or the summer solstice, I love feeling part of something sacred and having the opportunity to connect with Nature, honour her cycles, recognize how they affect us, and to engage in ceremony. Last year my husband and I spent our anniversary and the summer solstice exploring ancient stone ruins. This year was a bit low keep, but just as special.

I’m looking forward to the madness…

Of our traditional family Christmas. Sometimes we have a big Christmas where the entire family gets together. Other times, we simply have Christmas with the family who live close by. For the last couple years, we’ve celebrated at my aunt’s house, and we’ll be doing the same again this year. She lives in a town about an hour away from me. This period is always filled with cooking, Christmas music, mince pies, presents, loads off laugher and family games. My favourite thing is lounging by the pool and swimming after the big Christmas lunch.

These are the times of our lives that make up incredible memories when we look back on our lives. We are reminded to rekindle our sense of generosity, and the days filled with precious moments and reasons to be grateful. What’s not to love about it.

Sunsets, closure and ceremony

Endings seem to be a theme for contemplation of late. Tomorrow’s full moon marks the completion of a cycle. With virtually 2 weeks to go, 2013 is coming to a close soon too. Endings are inevitable. Facing its finality can be hard at times, depending on the circumstances. It can take time to grieve what is lost.

This weekend reminded me of the power that ceremony has in helping us to release what is no longer. Graduations make the end of schooling or college life. Funerals and memorials help us release souls who have passed on. A friend who travelled to Greece once told me of how the people in the village that she visited would stop what they were doing in the late afternoon and come together with a glass of wine to watch the sunset. I though that this was the most beautiful ceremony to make the end of the day. Ceremony brings about a sense of closure to whatever sunset we are facing. By symbolically letting go, we let go mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well. It allows us the opportunity to review the past objectively, to appreciate the highlights and become aware of mistakes.

With this in mind, Leonie Dawson’s Create Your Amazing Year 2014 workbooks came the perfect time. For the past week I’ve been working through the 2013 Closing Ceremony section of the both the Life and the Biz editions of these workbooks. They have been the perfect companion for reviewing the past year, celebrating my blessings and achievements as well as releasing the challenges and negative experiences.

Doing this review process has brought so many incredible insights. I’ve realised just how blessed I am to have so many of my dreams come true. I’ve also realised just how strong I am, stronger than I’d imagined. There were moments when I thought my life was falling apart, yet I lived through those challenges and have come out in one beautiful piece on the other side of it all.

Having engaged in this ceremony of releasing and celebrating the past, I feel closure. I also feel a freshness and spiritual spaciousness that I believe is making room for the newness to enter – new blessings, new experiences and a new year.
